What structures will prepare human beings to cultivate leadership based on inner work?
We hold this question consistently at Youth Alliance, and keep living our way to foster humanness, wholeness, inner work and evolutionary purpose within the team. The following report captures our expeditions with Team Development in 2022. Read on.
Collective Leadership
We believe that leadership needs of the future requires us to cultivate collective fields of consciousness. No longer an individual-authority and hierarchies serve us because of the trappings of the ego and projections that our leaders receive. Beginning with our own organisation, we have been practising a collective leadership based organisation structure.
Org Ecology
Acknowledging that life flows in ways that transcend organisational limits which have been based on industrial worldview - we have been noticing and practising the emergence of an Org Ecology that acknowleges team members' work in cross-sectional teams, their families along with YA's core commitments.
Multiple Forms of Capital
As we were closing books for a financial year - calculating receipts and expenses, acknowledging and thanking our financial donors it dawned on us that what we have received in the year far exceeds our financial receipts.
In response to wealth being reduced to mainly two forms of capital - financial and material and all measurements of work happening through that - we felt it is important for us an organisation to expand meanings of wealth in practice. Hence, began a process of creating this gratitude sheet to acknowledge all forms of capital and wealth that flowed to and through us. In doing that, we became present to many flows that can't be or need not be named. And that's its an infinite field of abundance that enable us to live. As we close the financial year, we feel enriched and abundant.
Experiments with Money
Typically money fosters scarcity, accumulation and insecurity. It is because of the very design of the debt-based money system we have which has scarcity built into it. And also cultural reasons that draw on the survival mind. The question is how does an organisation of under 10 paid employees cultivate its relationship with money to fosters trust, awareness of needs and sufficiency.
Well-being
Team's well-being is the central core of our work. Wealth and Well-being has a common root word. Our consistent effort is to inhabit the story of inter-being, a whole view of life and tools that are life giving - such that we cultivaate ourselves to be the instrument of the nature in service of the collective.
Evolving Learning
It's our continuous effort to learn as a team. In our endevour to respond to the converging crises of our times - ever expanding inquiry to see life in its various dimensions is important to our path. YA encourages its staff members to take learning journeys each year that bring them growth each year. As a collective also, we take time off our operations to learn togather. Learn more about the our upcoming collective learning journey.
Towards Zero-Waste
In these times, even personal change is radical as it has become increasingly difficult to take charge of our own lives given the technocracy indoctrinating our lives. Youth Alliance has been blessed with a community that stands firm and continuously enables personal change as well as collective.
Sharing about 11 organizational experiments that we began towards a zero waste being - all these experiments in our office space and work culture have emerged naturally from the being of the people involved. There are no policies written, no strategies made and no budgets put aside.
Policies
We realise we are moved by culture rather than by command. Hence our org policy is also arrived at, listening to the evolving culture and articulating it.
In practising org policy, we invite a whole view of one's life, emotions. biology, chemistry etc. More deeply, we hope each team member inhabits a self and a collective view together.
