The online Learning Modules are postponed indefinitely due to unavoidable circumstances. We will inform of the new dates in the near future.
Youth Alliance is launching a series of short learning modules to share foundational learning, tools, and practices on themes concerning evolutionary leadership, systems awareness, redesigning organizations, etc. Each module has three sessions spread over three days (weekends).
The objective is to create short, introductory yet immersive experiences to unpack critical alternative worldviews.
Module 1: Understanding Collective Leadership - (5th March to 7th March'21)Leadership, as we know it, is often seen one with THE LEADER - a demigod of sorts. It is founded upon the assumption that a single individual might have all the answers or embodies all the aspects of a leadership role - while the reality is rather more complex than that. A number of people are starting to see organizations and institutions as dynamic ecosystems as opposed to static machines. These ecosystems, in order to be sustainable, require a shared sense of responsibility from all its participants. But what does it take to recover from a deep split of supervisor-subordinate culture and shift to collective leadership?
Day 1 - Deconstructing the various trends of leadership. What is collective leadership and what is collective leadership’s significance in the new age?
Day 2 - How is it different from the traditional hierarchical form of leadership? What are the assumptions and blindspots to be aware of?
Day 3 - What are some of the methods of developing capacity for collective leadership in our groups/teams? What are the practices to sustain it?
Module 2: Reimagining Organizations - Well-being and experiments (26th March to 28th March'21)
Organizations, as we know today, have evolved at different junctures in history. While the present day organizations might look radically different from the ancient ones - there are certain aspects that are retained, for better or for worse. The question that plenty of organizations ask today is - how to nurture wholeness and well-being in an organization while also attending to conditions like competition, power, hierarchy etc. Can the well-being of people go hand in hand with productivity and personal effectiveness?
Day 1 - The journey of organizations - a history of a few hundred generations and the need for well-being and wholeness
Day 2 - Discovering and envisioning what well-being can look like in organisations
Day 3 - Practises and experiments that nurture wholeness in the team
Module 3: The role and relevance of inner work (9th April to 11th April'21)
One’s inner life remains as present but often neglected. The material science, over the years, has developed at a lightning pace while the science of the spirit has lagged behind. The language to articulate and understand one’s inner self (that includes one’s emotions, feelings, imagination, values etc.) remains in the confines of artists and scientists. Yet we remain respondents to its workings. But what does it take to creatively engage with one’s inner life? To enable oneself to live in awareness and wholeness. To find a harmony not just with oneself but with the structures - groups, organizations, teams, communities - that we create.
Day 1 - What is inner work? How does one recognize its presence in one’s life?
Day 2 - What role does inner work play in worldly systems? Can inner work become a collective pursuit?
Day 3 - If inner work is a lifelong pursuit, how does one sustain it?
